Hydraulic & Pneumatic NFPA Tie-Rod Cylinders

An NFPA tie-rod cylinder is an industrial hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder designed around standardized dimensional and mounting guidelines. These standards make it easier to specify cylinders for new equipment and replace cylinders used in existing machinery.

Hydraulic NFPA cylinders use pressurized hydraulic fluid and are typically selected when higher force is required. Pneumatic NFPA cylinders use compressed air and are commonly used for repetitive movement, positioning, clamping, and other industrial automation applications.

NFPA standards establish common dimensional and mounting conventions that can make replacing cylinders from different manufacturers easier. However, bore, stroke, rod size, mounting style, ports, pressure rating, and other specifications still need to match the application.
